Cameron is a Metis person from SW Manitoba. Cameron has worked with urban Indigenous community services agencies over the past 20 years.
Cameron has worked with organizations in a consulting role and as an executive staff member with organizations focused on urban Indigenous social and community development and more recently on shelter and affordable housing development projects. Cameron has led community entities or community boards through strategic planning through to implementation on initiatives such as Homelessness Partnerships Initiative and the Urban Aboriginal Strategy. Cameron has worked in partnership with Aboriginal Homelessness Steering Committee and British Columbia Housing- Development Services through a secondment to advance and fund capital projects with Indigenous service providers in Metro Vancouver. As an Executive Director of an Indigenous cultural Centre for urban and on reserve Indigenous people, we administered programs within a community development hub of services with early childhood development, family strengthening, youth programming, health and wellness, employment and training, residential shelter services, Elder’s programs and social enterprise activities.
These experiences have assisted Cameron in understanding the complexities that Indigenous communities face in addressing issues experienced by the Indigenous community. This knowledge and experience living and working with the community continues to fuel his passion towards advancing the Indigenous community’s health, wellness and prosperity.
